DHI and VRVis partner to expand access to fast flood simulation technology

DHI and VRVis partner to expand access to fast flood simulation technology

11 June 2026

DHI has entered into a strategic collaboration with VRVis – Center for Virtual Reality and Visualization – to bring the advanced flood simulation software scenarify® to a wider international market.

scenarify combines high-speed flood modelling with detailed visualisation, helping municipalities, utilities and planners better understand and manage flood risks in a changing climate.

Using a novel numerical approach, the software can perform fully dynamic flood simulations in minutes while maintaining a high level of accuracy. This enables users to test and compare scenarios more quickly, supporting faster and better-informed decision-making.

The platform also offers interactive 2D and 3D visualisations, including time-lapse animations of flood events, making it easier to communicate complex flood risks and impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

In addition, scenarify includes tools for analysing flood depths, flows and volumes, as well as a library of mitigation measures that allows users to assess and compare adaptation options and future urban development scenarios.

‘This collaboration allows us to make a highly innovative tool available to a broader market. scenarify complements our existing solutions and strengthens our ability to support clients in tackling complex flood and climate adaptation challenges,’ said Erik Mårtensson, Vice President, Water in Cities, Nordics at DHI.

‘Working with DHI gives us the opportunity to bring scenarify to users who can truly benefit from fast, high-quality flood simulations in their day-to-day planning and decision-making,’ said Gerd Hesina, CEO of VRVis.
