At this two-day course you will learn to classify chemical mixtures based on information on chemical composition or information from the Safety Data Sheet. Furthermore, you will learn to prepare a hazard label including hazard pictograms and phrases.
We go through the detailed steps required to classify mixtures according to GHS, the Globally Harmonized System on classification and labelling of chemicals and chemical mixtures. We focus on using test results, bridging principles and calculation methods which are required to identify and describe physical, health, and environmental hazards.
You will gain hands-on experience through progressive, structured exercises that are related to the various topics covered by the course. In this way, you are provided with concrete tools to perform your own classifications and labelling.
- Methods for classifying mixtures
- How to interpret information from your raw material supplier
- Classifying mixtures containing mixtures
- Labelling of mixtures
- Safety Data Sheets
- Examples and practical work on classification, labelling and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for mixtures
- Access to DHI’s ChemClass Module on classification of mixtures
- Hands-on exercises
TARGET GROUP AND PREREQUISITES
Manufacturers of chemical products. Distributors, importers and users of chemicals who need to evaluate information from their raw material supplier.
The course contains some technical details. Thus, an understanding of the basic principles of chemistry is preferable, but not a condition.
