For two weeks in September 2013, eight women from Africa and Asia participated in the 2013 Women’s Water Fund Programme. Open to women from developing countries in middle management positions, the Fund’s goal is to help address the under-representation of women in water resources development and management.
- toured Danish organisations working in the water sector
- took career development and management courses at our head office in Hørsholm, Denmark
- completed internships in their fields
In the video below, the women explain how the people they met through the Fund have inspired them. They also discuss the positive impact of their participation in the Fund – on themselves and their future career goals.
The Women’s Water Fund was created at our initiative. It was originally funded by the ‘King Hassan II Great World Water Prize’ presented to DHI’s Professor Torkil Jønch Clausen at the Fourth World Water Forum in Mexico in 2006. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (Danida) co-sponsored this year’s Fund.
