MIKE URBAN (WD) kan vise ulike trykksoner, basert på nettverkets topologi og geometri, lukkede rør, lukkede ventiler og pumper. Man kan definere regler for oppdeling av trykksoner. Verktøyet viser hvordan de ulike delene av nettverket hydraulisk henger sammen og hvor man har sprang i vannspeilet. For å generere trykksoner, velg EPANET | WD-Tools | Pressure Zone Mapping… fra hovedmenyen i programmet. Pressure Zone Mapping wizard leder deg gjennom innstillingene.

Med hjelp av Pressure Zone Mapping wizard kan du definere separatorer, slå sammen små rørgrupper til en gruppe, og automatisk generere farge som viser trykksonene.

• Separators: separatorer er linker som brukes for å skille en sone fra en annen.
• Merge zones smaller than: hvis det er mange små soner (et typisk eksempel er små rør i pumpestasjoner og lagringstanker), vil disse slås sammen i den grafiske visningen i stedet for å lage en egen sone for hver av dem.

Verktøyet hjelper deg å forstå nettverkets hydrauliske funksjon før man kjører den hydrauliske simuleringen, og det hjelper deg å avdekke mulige feil i nettverkets sammenkobling.

DHI was present on the ICCE 2008 conference in Hamburg, presenting the latest scientific and modeling advancements. The conference focused on coastal modelling and processes such as coastal morphology, wave dynamics and tsunamis, sediment transport and port engineering.

Hamburg Port is the 2nd largest in Europe and O. Stoschek, DHI presented at 3D model based on MIKE 3 FM of the complete port and the approaches through the Elbe. R. Deigaard presented an advanced study of sediment by-pass and long-term coastal morphology using the flexible mesh MIKE 21 sediment transport model. S. Lohier presented a study on non-uniform sediment transport and B. Elfrink presented a coastal protection study in Brazil.

This year DHI Thailand User Group Meeting was held at Green Lake Resort, Chiang Mai, during 25-26 June 2008.

The 2008 UGM focused on global warming, flood hazards and real time flood forecasting, flood control and management projects using the MIKE Software. More than 80 participants from various organizations, governmental agencies, universities and academia and consulting companies participated in the event.

The first day we had invited 3 keynote speakers: Dr. Royol Chitradon, Director of Hydro and Argo Informatics Institute. Dr. Royol Chitradon presented paper “Dynamic Uses of River Gates and Retentions to Prevent Floods, and Improve Flow Circulations, Sanamchai-Mahachai Monkey Cheek Project”. Dr. Jirawat Kanasut, Lecturer from Kasetsart University spoken about “Telemetering Project on Petchaburi River Basin” and Mr. Thada Sukkapunnapan, Director of RID Regional Office 1 (Chiang Mai) presented “Flooding and Warning in North of Thailand”. DHI DK experts were Borge Storm (“A Brief Introduction to Some Aspects of the MIKE Software”), Morten Rungoe (“Urban Drainage and Flood Modelling”) and Niels Hvam Pedersen (“Global Climate Change”)

On the second day, 35 participants visited the Hydrology Centre, RID Chiang Mai office and telemetric station at Nawarat Bridge. The Director, Mr. Thada and his staff are very supportive to our group. Our participants were very pleased with the arrangement and all look forward to next year’s user group meeting.

MIKE by DHI Training Week
4-8 August, Brisbane, Australia

A comprehensive range of public enrolment courses in MIKE by DHI software was presented in Brisbane, Australia, in the week of 4-8 August 2008. Eleven courses were offered over the five days, in four parallel tracks: Water Resources, Urban, Flooding, and Marine.

The DHI team of trainers and facilitators were: Dr Graeme Cox, Mr Morten Kjølby, Mr Blake Boulton, Mr Mark Britton, Ms Elaine Pang, Mr Morten Rugbjerg, Mr Simon Mortensen, Dr Rikke Closter, Mr Tony Griffith.

A real buzz developed. Attendees were able to network during the break times, and were treated to a restaurant lunch on one of the days.

The main comment from many was that they wished the courses could be extended, as there was so much information, they would have liked more time for discussion and exercises. This will be taken into account in planning our next MIKE by DHI Training Week, to be held in Sydney in April 2009.
