Danmark opplever kraftigere regn
Water & Environment og COWI A/S.
kraftigere enn tidligere. Videre har frekvensen av de
kraftigste regnene økt med rundt 10 %.

Flomvarsling for Paris
Seinen, Marne, Yonne, Loing, Ouanne, Beuvron, Cure, Armançon,

Vannkraftprognoser
endringen i akkumulert vannmagasin i kraftreservoarene.
Prognoser er tilgjengelig for abonnenter to ganger per dag.

MIKE SHE Is Chosen for Water Resource Management in Okanagan
Valley, BC
Integrated surface water and groundwater management is identified
as a priority for the Okanagan Basin (located in the southern
interior of British Columbia, Canada) due to the combination of a
fast-growing population, water resources shortages, and the
potential impacts of climate change. In order to properly assess
and evaluate the current status of water resources in the region
it was determined that a model was needed with the capability to
simulate both surface water and groundwater and the complex
interactions and exchanges between them. As a result, a pilot
project entitled "Numerical Modelling on Surface Water and
Groundwater Integration" is currently underway in the Deep
Creek Watershed, one of sub basins in the Okanagan valley.
Following a review of existing groundwater and surface water
integration modelling programs, Prof. Adam Wei from University of
British Columbia (Okanagan) identified DHI's MIKE SHE,
together with other selected tools, as the most appropriate
modelling platform for this challenging project. "We looked
at a wide range of possible tools for performing the modelling,
but in the end we decided on MIKE SHE due to the strong
integration and communication between the surface water and
groundwater systems, and due to the proven track record of
projects where it has been successfully applied." says Dr.
Wei. "The results from the simulations will provide critical
information for the local community to achieve long-term
watershed ecosystem sustainability, and the model itself will be
easily expandable to other sub-basins and watersheds in the
region."

MIKE 11 and MIKE FLOOD in India
2005 was a great year for MIKE 11 and MIKE FLOOD in India with
several important sales to national, state and local government
as well as to consultants and universities. Amongst these
important achievements is the MIKE 11 sale to Central Water
Commission who made a significant investment in upgrading their
suite of multiple MIKE 11 licenses to version 2005. Amongst
others CWC are now using the most recent version to perform
reliable real-time forecasts of floods and reservoir inflows.
MIKE 11 is also being used by CWC for sedimentation studies of
large hydropower dams and for disaster management plans related
to potential dam failures.

Water resources information and knowledge
DHI offers a unique collection of database management tools and
hydrologic software packages that allows the user to create
comprehensive, flexible and open-ended water information systems.
The systems are built on well-proven components tailored and
configured to meet the exact needs. The systems may store,
organize and provide tools for analyzing time series data in a
spatial context. Various forms of output formats can be produced,
both graphical and tabular, which are suitable for sharing
information and knowledge with others, and form the basis for
appropriate decisions. Combining the database management tools
with advanced simulation tools provides the client with a unique
knowledge centre. A brief paper has been compiled which outlines
the concept.

MIKE URBAN Project Check Tool
The project check tool is the new built-in tool for MIKE URBAN.
The project check tool will check the consistency of the MIKE
URBAN project database against a large number of rules. The rules
are combined so that both the data structure as well as the
values of attributes is checked in order to ensure an error free
model. The various data checks are divided into groups that can
be selected individually from the list. The content of the list
varies depending upon the current modelling mode of MIKE URBAN
i.e. collection systems (CS) or water distribution systems (WD).
The model errors or warnings are stored in the database so that
they can be used next time the project is loaded into MIKE URBAN.
It is also possible to map errors and warnings on the horizontal
plan, which helps the user to navigate quickly through the
erroneous elements. The project check rules are stored in the XML
file and this gives the user the option of developing own rules
or adjusting the existing ones.

MIKE 11 – plotting the water level
How to easily print multiple cross sections with a horizontal
line showing the maximum simulated water level, e.g. as
shown here (pdf 90kb)
This can be done using the cross section editor in combination
with the HD editor in which the water level information can be
stored as user defined marks. In details the steps you have to
take are the following:
-
In MIKE View load the result file and bring up the list of
h-points with minimum and maximum water level. Mark the columns
with location (river name and chainage) and maximum water level
and press <Ctrl>+C to copy to clipboard.
-
Start Excel and paste from the clipboard.
-
Split the column with river name and chainage into two columns.
If you don't have blank characters in river names it is
easily done with the "Text to Columns...” feature. If you
do have blank you can split the column using functions and
utilize that there are two blank characters between the river
name and the chainage.
-
In Excel copy the three columns with river name, chainage and
maximum WL to the clip board.
-
Open your simulation file.
-
Open your HD parameter file and go to the “User Def. Marks” tab
and create a user defined mark with an appropriate name. Paste
data in clipboard into columns in the lower part of the dialog.
-
Save, close and load the .hd11 file.
-
Open the cross section file and choose
"Cross-Section..." in the Settings menu.
-
Choose the "Drawing" tab and select "Draw user
defined marks".
-
Choose the user defined mark you want to use in the combo box
and choose if you want to label the line (the name of the user
defined mark is used)
-
The water level line should now appear in the cross section
graphical view. If it doesn't check that it is switched on
in the “Graphics” (choose "Cross-Section..." in the
Settings menu). It is the last item in the tree view
("User defined mark Line"). Here you can also change
line colour, type and thickness)
-
To plot multiple cross sections please refer to section 3.5 of
the user manual.

MIKE URBAN Coordinate systems
MIKE URBAN allows you to define or specify the proper coordinate
system, which will be used to work with the model data. If all
the data you want to display on your map is stored in the same
coordinate system—for example, if you're using your
organization's database—you can just add it to a map and not
consider whether the layers will overlay properly; they will. If,
however, you've collected data from a variety of sources,
you'll need to know what coordinate system each dataset uses
to ensure MIKE URBAN can display them together.
There are two types of coordinate systems: geographic and
projected. Geographic coordinate systems use latitude and
longitude coordinates on a spherical model of the earth's
surface. Projected coordinate systems use a mathematical
conversion to transform latitude and longitude coordinates that
fall on the earth's three-dimensional surface to a
two-dimensional surface. A geographic coordinate system
(GCS) uses a three-dimensional spherical surface to define
locations on the earth.
Illustration: Select a
predefined coordinate system from within the Create New Project
dialog box of MIKE URBAN

MIKE URBAN Export simulation results to shape files
MIKE URBAN allows you to export the simulation results to ESRI
shape files. This is very convenient for the further
post-processing of data in ESRI ArcGIS and/or in other GIS
systems supporting shape files, such as MapInfo. In order to
export the simulation results to shape files, load the simulation
results into MIKE URBAN i.e. run the simulation or load already
calculated results from a result file (MOUSE, SWMM, EPANET, and
WATER HAMMER) and add the result layer to the Map window. Once
the result layer is displayed on the Map, click the layer in the
Table of Content (TOC) with the right mouse button and select
"Export layer to shape file.."
