Master Planning of Wastewater Networks

Master planning addresses the main issues in wastewater network planning and presents dynamic integrated planning for the future. A master plan must describe the dominant processes of the urban water cycle and their interaction in relation to the operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater networks.

An urban drainage master plan has a direct influence on the investments and maintenance of a wastewater network, both short term and long term.

DHI’s GIS-enabled mathematical models and CAD interfaces bridge the gap between information sources and Master Plans. DHI’s technologies develop the basic building blocks of a Master Plan.

Integrated Catchment Analysis

Integrated catchment analysis for master planning is made simple and cost-effective using DHI’s fully integrated range of software products.

Examples of applications:
• Overflow impacts on river and coastal water quality
• Wastewater treatment plant emission impacts on surface water
• Hydraulic interaction between urban drainage system and groundwater - through infiltration or flooding
• Integrated modelling studies within the EU Water Framework Directive
