- How do you substantiate the truthfulness of a claim?
- Do functional foods and food supplements really work?
- How do you avoid misleading the consumer?

- How do you categorize a claim according to the regulation?
- How do you put together an application for approval of a health claim?
In the summer of 2007 a new EU order on nutrition and health claims went into force. The order gives opportunity to inform consumers on the specific nutrition and health benefits associated with certain food products or supplements.
The new legislation is still in a transition phase, and a lot of questions have arisen as to what degree scientific documentation is necessary, what constitutes a relevant and well understood message, how should clinical studies be performed etc.
This course will make use of our experience gained so far, and we will guide the course participants through the maze of EU and national legislation on the subject. DHI has participated in two Nordic InnovationCentre projects dealing with nutrition and health claims, from which we will draw some conclusions.
Prospective course participants may inform the course manger of their specific challenges in advance, and in that case we will try to cover your specific area of interest.
