MIKE Marine GIS - Your data manager for coastal projects
MIKE Marine GIS is specially designed for shoreline
management applications. It is a powerful tool for the management of all
relevant data monitoring of the morphological evolution in the coastal
zone, for instance in connection with evaluation of the impact from
nourishment schemes, harbours and coastal protection works.
MIKE Marine GIS includes a marine Geodatabase and
specialised modules for importing, analysing and visualizing data used in
coastal engineering within ArcGIS™. Presently the specialised modules
include:
-
Time Series Manager for eg time series of measurements
-
Surface Manager for eg 2D model data (bathymetries, result files, etc)
-
Survey Manager for eg survey data (x, y, z)
-
Transect Manager for creating eg profiles from survey data
-
Coastline Manager for creating and comparing coastlines
-
Image Manager for managing documents and images
MIKE Marine GIS contains specialised modules for all data
types normally used in coastal engineering, including:
-
coastline position
-
coastal profiles
-
land use data
-
waves, currents, water levels and winds
-
sediment properties
-
photographs
-
aerial photographs
-
maps
All data can be stored with a complete history for the analysis of
coastline development and calculation of volume changes both performed in a
user-specified area.
MIKE Marine GIS contains the necessary input modules to
interface with traditional methods of coastline surverys, including
digitisation modules. By using the powerful GIS facilities measured or
simulated data can be compared directly to both historical data and data
from other sources like aerial photographs or maps.
Based on profile meaurements various methods of calculation of volume
changes may be applied to the data, including the generation of complete 2D
contour maps of the area, generation of differential maps, etc.
To extend the system with powerful modelling capabilities MIKE Marine GIS
may link directly up to the DHI LITPACK model, which simulates littoral
processes, including coastline evolution and the MIKE 21 model for detailed
modelling of processes around structures.
The MIKE Marine GIS Extension is a plug-in to ArcGIS™ from ESRI.
