| Competency Level |
Level 1 |
| Introduction |
This course gives an overview of the application areas for the DHI’s five wave models within the MIKE 21 modelling system, and covers the use of the spectral wave model, MIKE 21 SW, which runs on a flexible mesh. The course covers the theoretical background of the model, and a step-by-step guide in setting up and running a typical application. |
| What will you learn? |
The course will cover the following topics:
- Application areas for each of the five wave models
- Wave modelling in offshore, coastal and estuarine areas using MIKE21 SW
- Theoretical background and solution technique for MIKE 21 SW
- Dana needs and preparation, including link to the hydrodynamic module
- Geographical projections
- Boundary conditions
- Bed roughness, wave breaking and wave-wave interaction
- Results presentation and animations
|
| Who should attend? |
Coastal and marine engineers, and oceanographers. Note that courses on other wave models than the MIKE 21 SW model can be prepared upon request. |
| Prerequisites |
No formal prerequisites but a knowledge of basic wave dynamics would be an advantage. |
| Course structure |
2 day course including lectures and hands-on tutorials. |
