MIKE 11 ST R-103

River and Sediment Modelling
Competency Level Level 3
Introduction

This 2 day course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of cohesive and non-cohesive sediment transport modelling in rivers and estuaries. It is assumed that participants have a working knowledge of the MIKE 11 hydrodynamic module and/or have completed a MIKE 11 course.

What will you learn?

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Scientific background for 1D sediment transport
  • Application of cohesive models
  • Application of non-cohesive ST models
  • Choosing an appropriate non-cohesive sediment transport formula
  • Using single fraction models and graded sediment models
  • Calibration of sediment models
  • Solving practical problems with MIKE 11
Who should attend? Water resources engineers looking to gain skills in sediment transport and morphological modelling.
Prerequisites Attendees should either have completed Course R-101 or have a sound knowledge of MIKE 11.
