Modelling for Managers - an executive course aimed at managers and procurers of projects with a modelling component
Competency Level Level 1 (no formal modelling experience needed, the course is aimed at managers)
Introduction

The aim of this 2-day course is to clearly explain what modelling is all about and how to maximise the return on the modelling investment.

  • The past, the present and the future of modelling
  • The essentials of different models, including:
    • Strategic planning
    • Detailed models
    • Lumped
    • Distributed
    • 1D, 2D, 3D
    • Coupled models
  • The stages of a modelling study
  • Planning a project - typical lead in times and model development times
  • Data inputs and data collection required
  • When is a model considered fit for purpose
  • Documenting and capturing the modelling process
  • How to maximise the return on investment in your model
Who should attend?

Procurers and managers working on 5-10 year business and strategic plans as well as day-to-day projects.  

Prerequisites No formal modelling prerequisites.
Course structure The course is an executive level course and will be run over a two day period with workshops in the evening between the two days.
