With climate change and the search for CO2-neutral energy, hydropower and dam development have regained a central position in many national and international development strategies, as well as with international donors.

DHI's expertise can contribute to sustainable development of hydropower in all its phases. Services range from water availability studies and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) as part of feasibility studies all the way to support during the design phase of intakes, weirs and sediment handling facilities.

DHI is also increasingly providing Decision Support Systems (DSS) for optimisation of operations. These systems will assist dam operators in their efforts to maximize the revenue from hydropower production without sacrificing competing management objectives such as flood protection, environmental flows, and supply of water for irrigation purposes.

This latest edition of our group newsletter will provide you with an appetizer of our activities within the hydropower arena. Learn about our recent projects in the /Global news, choose from Case Stories and Solutions in the /Get inspired section, and find out where you can meet us, at /Build your network. But above all - enjoy reading.

Yours faithfully,

Kim Wium Olesen

Head of Water Resources Department
