Dams and reservoirs contribute significantly to the management of the world’s water, which is becoming an increasingly scarce resource. They ensure water for power, irrigation and are used to mitigate the potentially devastating effects of floods and droughts. At the same time, dams and reservoirs may have adverse environmental and social impacts. There is therefore an increasing demand for the efficient operation of existing dams to minimize the adverse effects while optimising the benefits.
DHI’s integrated software technology, covering all aspects of the water cycle, has proven ideal for investigating the effects of reservoir construction, changes in reservoir management and optimal operation and generation of hydro power.
The potential for application of DHI Technology and Tools for hydro power dams and reservoirs in India is huge. In an effort to provide solutions and technology to the Indian sub-continent within this growing market area, DHI organises a one-day seminar on ‘Operation and Optimisation of Hydropower Plants and Reservoirs’. Topics include
- Inflow forecasting
- Hydropower plant operation and optimisation
- Reservoir sedimentation management
- Downstream impacts
Representations from public authorities, private companies, research organisations responsible for and working with hydro power will attend the seminar which is held on May 15th 2007.
Detailed information and program can be obtained from Managing Director Mr. Ajay Pradhan (ajay@dhi.co.in) or Senior Hydraulic Engineer Mr. Henrik Garsdal (heg@dhigroup.com).
